Introduction from the Headmaster

Looking for a Christian school that encourages faith and critical thinking? Washington Christian Academy unites the efforts of Christian parents, churches, and teachers to provide reverent, adventurous, academically serious schooling in the historic Reformed tradition.

Washington Christian Academy is not just a school, it is a promise fulfilled.

That promise is summed up in the word "covenant," a commitment we make with God and each other, rooted in God's own gracious provision to us.

The Promise We Make

The board and parents of Washington Christian Academy promise all the young people in our covenant community to show them God's world as it truly is, in all the ways made possible by language, science, and art.

We promise to teach our young people to interpret what they see, and to respond, within a reverent and confident biblical worldview. Our faith is not a place to hide, but a lens, revealing God's goodness in creation, the consequences of sin, and our responsibility to work in concert with God's redeeming purposes.

We keep these promises to our children and their families by providing excellent teachers with Christian motivation; a curriculum that measures up to any school, secular or Christian; and a discipline that combines healthy boundaries with grace and joy in each other's company.

The word "covenant," the commitment we have with God and with each other, is a precious link to the Reformed tradition of our school's founders back in 1960. Rooted in the Presbyterian and Christian Reformed churches, they opened their doors wide to all Christians and (in stark contrast to some other schools of that era) to the full social and racial diversity of the capital region. The Reformed vision of education, regarding all things in the light of God's glory, is still central to Washington Christianl Academy - and so is our diversity.

What promises do you want to make for your childrens' education? May we keep these promises together?
