History
6th Grade History
This course continues the overview of American history begun in fifth grade, providing an overview of American History from the 1860’s to modern times, We look at the people and ideas that shaped our nation during those formative years. Students will learn about important dates and people while looking for common themes that run throughout this time period.
7th Grade Government/ Geography
This course begins with a study of the American government, then expands to a comparison of various government systems around the world. The second semester will cover the five themes of geography through the use of the text, mapping activities, current events, and country projects. For each continent studied, students will be introduced to the people, social and political problems, religions, and regions of that continent.
8th Grade World History
Eighth grade World History features a chronological narrative of world history from the earliest civilization through the time of the Protestant Reformation. It focuses on the political and economic development of cultures, the influence of geography on cultures, and creativity in the arts. This course gives students a solid foundation in world civilizations, centering on the following: the beginnings of ancient civilization, the rise of classical civilizations, the Middle Ages in Western Europe, and the golden ages outside Western Europe. The study of World History in the modern period continues in ninth grade.
