6th Grade General Science
Sixth grade science follows a general science curriculum, with units in both life and physical sciences. The topics include: cells, genetics, plant and micro-organism classification, space exploration, chemistry, environmental studies and nuclear energy. Hands-on activities, labs, and group work are part of the curriculum. The stream and woods on the school’s sixty acre campus also serve as a “classroom” for the course. The highlight of the year is a three day outdoor education program at a Christian camp in Pennsylvania.
7th Grade Life Science
In seventh grade we explore the following topics: animal classification, human body systems, cell function and genetics. Hands-on activities, labs—including a frog dissection—and group work are incorporated into the course. Access to the stream and woods on the school campus provide further opportunities to study plant and animal life first hand.
8th Grade Earth Science
Eighth grade science covers topics such as plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, minerals, rocks, weather and the solar system. Hands-on activities, labs, and group work are part of the curriculum. Visits to various areas of the school’s wooded campus and stream enhance the study of God’s creation.
