Mathematics

6th Grade Math
6th Grade Math seeks to reinforce and expand upon elementary arithmetic operations and number sense (percent, decimals and fractions) in the context of real world applications in order to prepare students for the higher level courses (pre-algebra, algebra and geometry) featured in the next stage of their mathematical education.
7th Grade Math
7th Grade Math seeks to help students master previously learned arithmetic skills (operations) and number sense (percent, decimals and fractions) while introducing new algebraic and geometric concepts (abstract expressions and formulas). These topics are explored as applications to real world situations including measurement, data analysis and probability, and as continued preparation for algebra and geometry.
Pre-Algebra
Pre-Algebra is designed to build a strong foundation in abstract algebraic concepts by expanding operations and number sense to include exponents, roots, and radicals. Students also explore and solve linear equations and functions with whole numbers, integers, decimals, fractions and percents. The notion of a function is introduced as well as geometric concepts including transformations and three dimensional problems.
