| The Second Grade Experience
In second grade, students continue to build on the skills acquired in first grade even as they acquire new skills. Second graders review phonics, practice decoding, and read both orally and silently, and by year’s end they will have learned to read fluently, accurately, and with comprehension. They learn various types of writing—letters, poetry, personal narratives, reports, and stories—and are taught proofreading skills that allow them to hone their writing further. In mathematics, manipulatives and board work are used to make abstract concepts accessible and help students master basic arithmetic facts and procedures. Continuous review and practice allows the students to apply their knowledge to solve more complex problems, and word problems are introduced at this time. |

All Truth is God's Truth
The principle that “all truth is God’s truth” is reinforced throughout the students’ learning, and they are encouraged to see Biblical truth in all their studies.
