Beyond the Classroom
Middle School students enjoy many activities planned especially for them throughout the year. These events become a formative and important part of their Middle School experience. Below are a few examples of those activities.
Wildcat Week
Wildcat Week is an exciting week and is dedicated to school spirit and having fun as a community. Classes decorate their hallways, and students dress per each day's specific theme. At the end of the week there is a pep rally to celebrate and support our winter athletic teams.
Geography Bee
Each year, students in grades 4 - 8 participate in the school-wide Geography Bee, sponsored by the National Geographic Society. WCA's winner has the opportunity to be selected to compete against winners from other Maryland schools at the state-wide Geography Bee.
Spelling Bee
Each year, students in grades 3 -8 participate in the school-wide Spelling Bee. WCA's winner goes on to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee.
Spruce Lake (6th Grade)
6th graders pack their bags and head off for a memorable three days of camping and outdoor educational experiences at Spruce Lake in Pennsylvania.
Adventure Park (7th & 8th Grade)
7th and 8th graders have a great time at this fun and family-friendly amusement park in New Market, Maryland. Activity options include go-carts, laser tag, rock climbing, a water park, a roller coaster, and an arcade.
